I am finally sitting down in the middle of a busy Summer to give you some insight on how to keep yourself grounded. Being empathic is both a blessing and a curse, although the people that I have spoken to during my Facebook Live streams have told me it sucks most of the time. And that is exactly why I have decided to sit here at my desk with my extra large iced coffee and give you some pointers on how to keep yourself from getting drained.
Self-Care is so important! I can not stress that enough. I don’t want to hear you don’t have time either…. if you have time to take a shower, then you have time to clear your energy. Let’s start small for those of you who don’t have a lot of time to spare….. Go on Amazon and order yourself a bar of rosemary soap (TAPROOT makes a nice one for around $12) this is a nice cleansing ritual, and as the water and soap go down the drain, all the negative energy goes with it. Remember, intention is everything.
For those that have extra time here are several ways to cleanse and recharge….. Head on over to the beach! Surf and sand are sure ways to get you grounded. Your toes in the sand will do you a world of good. And just being near the water will replenish your energy, even if it’s too cold to go in.
Salt baths. Epsom salt is very useful and does more than soothe your aching feet. I take a bath with this every night. You can do it as often as needed. I sometimes will add a sprig of fresh rosemary to my bathwater.
SAGE, SAGE, SAGE… your home, your car, your office, your phone, your self, your mate, your dog.
Walk in nature, and every so often take a deep breath to expand your lungs. Look around at the trees, the sky. Be in the moment.
Meditate. You only need ten minutes a few times a week, but if you have time to do more, do that.
Avoid energy vampires, even if they are family. And if you have no choice, then try to listen and be present without absorbing their energy.
Drink plenty of water. I’m serious.
Keep your space clean and tidy.
Take a break from social media to do something you enjoy. Watch a movie, ride a bike, walk your dog. Leave your phone off.
Remember that you can’t help others if you are depleted. Take care of YOU first.
